Code of Conduct
The organizing committee for the Environmental Flows 2024 Conference is committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees. Our mission is to cultivate a space that fosters trust, respect, and the free exchange of ideas, while embracing the diverse perspectives that drive the quest for knowledge and truth.
We outline the following expectations for conduct during the Environmental Flows 2024 Conference:
Respect and Dignity: All participants are expected to treat each other with mutual respect and dignity.
Active Listening: Attendees should practice active listening, ensuring that everyone feels heard and valued.
Accountability: We encourage collaboration among participants to identify challenges and adapt practices, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Any form of harassment, prejudice, or discrimination will not be tolerated. This stance aligns with the Canadian Human Rights Act. Inappropriate behaviours, both offline and online, include but are not limited to:
Personal Harassment: Actions that offend or humiliate someone, whether physically or verbally; threats, intimidation, bullying, or any conduct that negatively impacts an individual’s well-being.
Sexual Harassment: Unsolicited or unwelcome conduct, comments, gestures of a sexual nature; offensive remarks or jokes related to gender identity; unwelcome remarks about a person’s body, attire, sex, or sexual orientation; inappropriate physical contact; or the misuse of sexual images in public spaces or presentations.
Discriminatory Harassment: Racial or sexual slurs, jokes, or comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, age, marital status, family status, or any other protected category.
Any individual found engaging in unacceptable behaviour will be promptly removed from the event.
